Boost provides funding and support to inspiring programmes which help improve the lives of the disadvantaged and disabled through the power of sport.

Since inception, Boost has awarded grants totalling in excess of £2.5 million.  Its focus is on five areas of disadvantage: physical and learning disabilities, financial hardship, mental health, social exclusion and medical research and relief.

Boost’s grants have engaged with 71 different sports.

How we help to improve lives:

Physical and Learning Disabilities:

Sport and its benefits should be accessible to all.  Nearly half of Boost’s annual grants are directed towards sport for those with physical or learning disabilities.

Mental Health

Sport and exercise can play a vital role in overcoming mental health challenges.  Boost has supported programmes providing weekly yoga sessions, badminton and tai chi classes and Saturday football clubs to help people with their mental health.

Social Exclusion

There is no place for social exclusion in today’s world.  Boost has awarded grants for a tri-city programme for the homeless, a boxing and fitness project for ex-offenders and a Saturday football club for asylum seekers and refugees.

Financial Hardship

Cost should not be a barrier to participation in sport, though for many it still is.  Boost supports programmes in both the UK and eSwatini helping children and adults to get involved in swimming, rugby, football and many other sports.

Medical Research and Relief

Boost supports projects that seek ways to improve outcomes for or provide respite to those suffering from illness through exercise and activity.  We have awarded grants to both the Australian Leukaemia Foundation and Parkinson’s UK.
